Day 10 - Florence & David
Buongiorno from Italy!
Water Taxis
Today's adventures took us from Venice to Florence. Instead of schlepping it on the vaparettos for the ride back to the bus, Matti arranged swanky water taxis.
Madonnas & Venus at the Uffizi Gallery
Local Guide Francesca walked us through tracing the evolution of art with the Madonna and Child. We also saw the Birth of Venus painting by Sandro Botticelli and a peek-a-boo view of Brunelleschi's Dome and Giotto's Campanile.
David & Slaves at the Accademia
Our trip to Rome in 2022 awakened an appreciation for sculptures, especially those of Bernini and Michelangelo. The opportunity to see Michelangelo's David and Slaves in person was a real treat.
Dinner Together
After the museums, we went to dinner together at an amazing restaurant. It was clear that Matti and the owner were friends. This became evident when they sang together! It was truly amazing and we were all stunned! And the food was excellent, too!
