Postcards from Mike & Jen

Day 7 - Fussen & Schwangau
Guten Morgen from Germany!
Today's adventures took us to the fairy tale castle, Neuschwanstein! It definitely looked like it was out of a Disney movie. You can hike up, ride a shuttle bus, or a horse-drawn carriage. We took the shuttle up as far as the Marienbrucke and hiked down. Even hiking down was a workout! We cannot imagine hiking up, though several over-achievers in our group did it. Our knees were thankful we remembered to bring the trekking poles. (HINT: Purchase a postcard with images of the interior. Photos are not permitted inside the castle, except a balcony and the kitchens.)
Lunch & Summer Luge
The summer luge track was only a short bus ride from the castles. We each got 2 rides down the luge. You can only go as fast as the person in front of you, so you will need to follow a daredevil if have a need for speed. Even Big John got in on the luge action. There may have been some teasing about making sure nothing happened to him... he was the most important person on the bus on the bus after all!
After the Luge we were left to our own devices. Being the party animals we are, we chose to go back to Fussen and did some laundry and packed for Venice the next day. We were only taking enough stuff with us for our stay there. The rest was staying under the bus. Mike walked down the street and got a pizza for dinner and we ate in our room and relaxed on our balcony. Seriously, if you are looking for the scoop on nightlife, we are not your people.
