Postcards from Mike & Jen

Day 18 - Beaune
Guten Morgen from Switzerland!
Today's adventures took us from Switzerland to France. On the way we stopped for lunch. There we several options and went for the Taco Shake. BIG MISTAKE! We would not recommend it. We don't know what those were, but they weren't tacos. They were very dense, filled with "French fries" ironically and a lot of white cheese sauce. We generally don't want to yuck anyone's yum, but this seemed like a fusion that just should not have happened. We couldn't finish them and honestly, didn't want to. Lesson learned: follow your guide and bus driver when there are multiple options for lunch.
Then it was on to Beaune a lovely small town in the Burgundy region. From our hotel we walked to Hotel de Dieu, a 15th-century hospital with flamboyant Gothic-style architecture and multicolored roofing turned museum and took a tour using audio guides.
Then it was off to a wine tasting at Bouchard Aine & Fils. It was very informative and the wine was delicious. They gave us wine glasses to take home. We weren't sure they would survive the flight, but they did!
After the tasting we went in search of someplace to eat. We walked toward the main square and found Les Chevaliers. They were super friendly and the food was fantastic! Mike had the beef bourguignon. Jen had the best croque monsieur she has ever tasted!
