Rick Steves' Best of Europe in 21 Days - Spring 2024
Postcards from Mike & Jen

Day 21 - Paris End of the Tour
Bonjour from France!
Tour was over after breakfast today. We lingered in the hotel lobby saying farewell to our traveling companions until mid morning, then headed out for one last day of adventures.
Montmarte & Sacre-Coeur
We rode the Metro to Montmartre. During this trip Mike had another "experience" with pickpockets. Again, nothing was taken since he didn't have anything available for them to take.
TIP: The 15 flights of stairs at the Abbesses Metro Station are no joke, if you need to be mindful of conserving energy...
take the elevator. Part of metro line 12, Abbesses is 36 meters below ground, this is actually the deepest metro station in Paris! We took the stairs and this is likely our only regret of the whole trip.
Musee d' Orasay
With our last afternoon in Paris we figured we had the energy for one more museum. Mike and Jen went to the Musee d' Orasay, while Dawn and Gordy went to Musée de l'Orangerie.
Gelato
Alas, what European trip would be complete without a final stop for Gelato? Gelato al Naturale on Rue Cler was our favorite of the trip. The staff was very friendly and the flower petal shaped scoops with unlimited flavors were festive and delicious! With our sugar fix in hand, we headed back to the hotel to finish packing and spend our last night in Europe. We asked the helpful human at hotel front desk to reserve us a "taxi normal" for our airport transfer, and it would be arriving bright and early the next morning to whisk us off to Charles de Gaulle Airport.

We were so very grateful to have been able to take this epic adventure with such lovely people and will cherish the memories always.
Equally, we were so ready and thankful to be returning home to familiar routines and comforts, most of all our darling doggo, Miss Buttercup!
