Day 20 - Paris

Bonjour from France!

Paris Walking Tour

Today's adventures began with a Metro ride to meet our local guide Elizabeth. Her wealth of knowledge made our rainy stroll through the Latin Quarter and the Isle d' Cite thoroughly enjoyable.

Sainte-Chappelle

The Sainte-Chappelle is a royal chapel in the Gothic style, within the medieval Palais de la Cité, the residence of the Kings of France until the 14th century, on the Île de la Cité in the River Seine in Paris, France. The beauty and detail of the stained glass windows was surreal.

Lunch Break

The afternoon was on our own.  The 4 of us headed back to Rue Cler for lunch at Cafe du Marche, where we had the most delightful table service of the whole trip. Our waitress spoke very little English and Jen's French could not keep up. With the assistance of Google voice-to-text translation we had multiple charming exchanges and belly laughs. Keeping with the theme of communication challenges that ended well, we stopped at a pharmacy to find some relief for the sinus pressure and runny nose that had caught Mike. The pharmacist was so friendly and patient! Armed with decongestant and nasal spray, we went back to the hotel to rest before dinner.

Farewell Dinner & Champagne Toasts

We met up with the group for our last dinner together at Le Bosquet. After yet another spectacularly delicious meal, we took our final stroll together where Matti treated us to a champagne toast near the Eiffel Tower. Looking back, the 341,410 steps, for 156 miles in three weeks seemed to fly by.

Bonne nuit from France!
